Gros Morne National Park

The south sector of Gros Morne National Park provides a spectacular setting for visitors to experience the great natural beauty of this special place.     The drive along Bonne Bay’s Southern Arm takes visitors through several picturesque communities with dramatic seascapes located in the shadows of steep forested hillsides and the lunar like landscape of the Tablelands.

The Gros Morne Discovery Centre is the main Parks Canada interpretation centre and is located off Route 431 on the road to Trout River. The Discovery Centre  allows visitors to see the Park as they've never seen it before.  Peel back the layers of time and look into Gros Morne's unseen world.  High quality, interactive and educational exhibits will help explain the Park's outstanding geological features, its plant and animal life, the marine story of Bonne Bay and the human history of the area.

Keep a watchful eye for the Park’s abundant flora and fauna.   Whales, porpoises, seals, moose, bear, caribou and other wildlife are numerous and frequently spotted in the waters of Bonne Bay and along the roadsides. On the drive to Trout River, you’ll travel through the Gulch, a vast open valley carved by glaciers millions of years ago.

The Town of Trout River is a traditional fishing village surrounded by rugged beauty. The mountains, the sea and Trout River Pond all amplify the charm of the community. A boardwalk along the waterfront provides a promenade through the community and a museum offers an interpretive history of the fishery.   Come and discover the majesty of Bonne Bay, in the south sector of Gros Morne National Park.
